Greyhound Forums & Groups
Last updated: July 2026
Adopting a greyhound can come with unexpected challenges. We weren’t prepared for a lot of the challenges we’ve faced, especially those which are highly specific and situational, and knowing where to find answers and solutions was often a struggle.
While we’d always suggest first to reach out to your adoption agency, a vet, or a qualified trainer/behaviourist, sometimes you need quick answers. Sometimes you don’t need answers at all - you just need someone who can emphathise, or a place to vent. That’s where online forums and groups can be a massive help.
We’ve collated a list of online sighthound-focused communities which have proven helpful, in the hope that other people will find them helpful too.

r/Greyhounds is a subreddit* for sharing greyhound photos, stories, questions and advice. At the time of writing this, it has nearly 100k members, and it clearly positions itself as anti-racing and pro-adoption. We’ve personally found it to be an extremely helpful and welcoming community, filled with likeminded individuals who just love greyhounds and talking about greyhounds!
If you’re not used to posting on Reddit, it can be a little daunting at first. Make sure to check out the community’s rules before contributing, and beware of trolls!

Retired Greyhound Owners UK
As the name suggests, Retired Greyhound Owners UK is specifically for greyhound owners in the UK. At the time of writing this, there are nearly 30k members. It’s a private group, which means you do need to request to join, however this is very straightforward. By its own description, there is “no such thing as a strupid question”, and you will definitely see all kinds of weird and wonderfully niche questions being shared.
In this case, the community defines itself as “racing neutral”. We’ve personally found that comments frequently skew more towards pro-racing, but overall the administrators do try to limit any debates on this topic.
Sighthound & prey driven dogs
Sighthound & prey driven dogs is a private group run by professional dog trainers, full of free training videos and advice. This group is absolutely worth checking out if you are struggling with your hound’s prey drive, though there are discussions around broader behavioural topics such as reactivity too. There are a few reasons this group is so fantastic for owners of ex-racing greyhounds:
- The majority of discussions focus specifically on sighthounds, rather than generic dog advice
- It’s 100% geared towards positive training
- The creator of the group, Dani Greenwood, does advertise her services and courses within the group - but not in a pushy way. From what I’ve seen she gives out tons of free advice without ever asking for anything in return.
Sighthound Home Boarding UK
Sighthound Home Boarding UK aims to connect owners with sighthound-specific boarders across the UK. This is particularly helpful given that many greyhounds struggle with being left in traditional kennels, and/or might not be comfortable living with other dog breeds.
